About Pre-License
Virginia Real Estate Broker License; In order to become licensed as a real estate broker by the Virginia Real Estate Board, you must:
- Complete 180 class/clock hours of a Virginia Real Estate Board approved course inclusive of Real Estate Brokerage, Real Estate Law, Real Estate Appraisal, and Real Estate Finance
- Pass the state and national portions of the broker examination
- Submit verification of experience (actively engaged as a salesperson for 36 of the 48 months preceding application)
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent
- Not have been convicted anywhere for a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, sexual offense, drug distribution, physical injury or any felony
- If licensed in another state, be in good standing in any state where licensed
- Have a good reputation for honesty, truthfulness, and fair dealing. Be competent to transact real estate business in such a manner as to safeguard the public interest
- Not have been found guilty of violating the fair housing laws of any jurisdiction
- Not have had a real estate license revoked or suspended in any state
